  1. to have a conversation

  2. to catch up with someone you haven't spoken to in a long time.

CHOP It Up is an initiative of TRAP Medicine that aims to provide a safe and inclusive space for ordinary people to discuss important public health issues that impact our community. The goal of CHOP It Up is to use conversation as a critical medium for advocacy, education, collaboration, and innovation and to gather people from a wide range of disciplines, perspectives, and with diverse lived expertise with the hope that these efforts lead to increased awareness, collective action, solution ideation, and relationship building.

Who know better how to create stronger, healthier, and safer communities than the people who make up those communities?

Us. All of Us.

Health Crisis In Black America

Black people in America and globally face significant health disparities, with higher rates of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, as well as higher mortality rates from cancer and other illnesses. These disparities are a result of systemic racism, poverty, limited access to quality healthcare, and other social determinants of health. It is crucial to address these issues and work towards creating more equitable healthcare systems to ensure that all individuals, regardless of race, have access to the care they need to live healthy and fulfilling lives.

“Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and inhumane.”
— Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“For he who has health has hope; and he who has hope, has everything.”
— Owen Arthur
